"Nadezhda" is
the
Russian
word
for "HOPE".
In 1998 the current director,
Claudette Deelie started voluntary
work as a volunteer coordinator
at an organisation called Arise.
Arise did not have a volunteer
department and Claudette had
to pioneer it.
During the recruiting process she noticed that most people did
volunteer work with the hope of finding permanent paid employment.
This expectation was not very realistic and therefore she decided
to start an organisation that would: 1.) empower unemployed people
to find jobs and 2.) assist other non-profitable organisations
with matters pertaining to volunteerism.
Nadezhda
Job Centre is
registered as a non-profitable
organisation and as a section
21 company (not for gain). Our
application
is pending for registration
as
a
Public
Benefit Organisation (PBO).
