Let's face the facts...
-
Our country has an unemployment rate of 40%. This 40% represents those people who say that they want to work, even if they haven't been "actively seeking work" in the 4 week period that the Labour Force Survey did the survey.

-
There is an undeniable correlation between unemployment and the crime rate.
- Idle hands find evil things to do leading to theft, abuse, gangsterism and decay of morality in society.

- Volunteers make a contribution of R5.1 billion to national output

- How do the inexperienced gain experience when companies are only seeking experienced staff?

- A study done by the University of Witwatersrand School of Public Management indicates that volunteers represent 43% of the workforce within the non-profit sector.

-

NGO's do not always have the funding to recruit paid staff.

Job Seeking workshops / Motivational sessions:

Many unemployed struggle to find jobs because they have no job hunting skills.

The centre hosts regular job seeking workshops that covers:
  • How to draft your CV
  • Where should I look for vacancies
  • Preparing for an interview
  • Sharing of personal experience as an unemployed person - Claudette Deelie
  • Inspiring and motivating many unemployed to further study
  • Volunteering as a temporal alternative
  • Where to find jobs, etc.
  • What is learnerships?

Unemployment often has a negative effect on one's self-esteem and therefore we have incorporated our motivational sessions with the job seeking workshops, to boost their self-worth.

Job placements:

Finding a job can be quite a challenge to many people. Nadezhda Job Centre assists in this regard by acting as a placements agency and helping many to put food on the table.

Mock interviews:

Going for a job interview can be a very daunting experience. We therefore give the unemployed the opportunity to practice their approach at our mock interviews. After which we would assess the interview and tell them how they can improve on their next interview.

Volunteer recruiting, screening, placements and management:

Organisations often struggle to manage their volunteers, leading to volunteers being more of a burden than an asset. Recruiting, screening, placing and managing of appropriate volunteers can be a time consuming task. Organisations do not always have adequate staff and time to fulfill this task and therefore we encourage organisations to allow us to help them on this matter. Training includes volunteer training, how to implement an effective volunteer department, volunteer information sessions, working alongside volunteers (to paid staff).

Basic computer skills:

Many unemployed people feel that they would be in a better position to find a job if they had some basic computer skills as it is required for most jobs. We have recognised this need and will soon be starting course.

PROSPECTIVE TRAINING SERVICES:

How to start your own small business:

Through this training we want to awake the entrepreneur in our unemployed candidates and to provide them with the necessary skills and motivation to start their own small business and also giving them an opportunity to contribute to the economy of our beautiful country.

Personal development:

If you do not know your strengths and weaknesses you will not be-able to tap into your full potential. Not knowing yourself also causes "job-hopping". This training will therefore put our candidates on the right path in finding the "right" job.
We also provide the unemployed with daily newspaper to view vacancies.
